Recital Info

There are two recitals every year.

The first recital is the Student Winter Recital. It’s in early to mid-December (see date on Calendar page). All students need an opportunity to get used to playing in front of large groups, and this is the relaxed recital for the year. Nobody dresses up, and the only audience is the rest of the students. At this recital, students learn about recital etiquette for both performers and the audience. Everyone learns how to bow, how to have music ready for the performance, and how to handle any anxiety and mistakes. After everyone has performed, it’s time to party! We’ll have punch, hot dogs, cookies, and some other unhealthy snacks (with at least one healthy snack out on the table). After we’ve partied for a while it’s time for parents to pick students up.

The second recital is the Spring Recital. It’s in mid to late-May (see date on Calendar page). This recital is the more formal recital for parents, relatives, even neighbors to enjoy. Every student performs at this recital. We work on having at least one song memorized. Every student earns a certificate at this recital. After everyone is finished performing, we enjoy some punch, cookies, and other small snacks. This is the final event of the year and lessons start back up in the fall.
